Objective To investigate the factors influencing the health of caregivers of patients with dementia.Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted using electronic questionnaires， and an ordered probit regression model was used to analyze the effects of caregivers’ age， sex， marital status， education background， and income as well as the severity of disease condition of patients with dementia on caregivers’ self-rated health.Results Sixty-one point six percent of the caregivers felt that their health was impaired. The results of the ordered probit regression analysis showed that the activities of daily living （ADL）， cognition， and mental and behavioral conditions of patients with dementia had significant effects on their caregivers’ self-rated health while controlling the caregivers’ general demographics such as sex， age， education background， marital status， and family income， with coefficients of 0.148（0.136）， 0.133（0.019）， and 0.361（0.169）， respectively.Conclusions Caregivers are more likely to feel that their health is impaired in cases of increased severity of disease condition， reduced ADL and cognition， and significant mental and behavioral disorders of patients with dementia.
